A priest and his martini

November 12, 2008

When I was young
I asked What Would Jesus Do?
  He would shake the world
            I answered glibly
so that’s what I set out to achieve.
But the winters pile on
  years accumulating like the leaves
under my maple tree in November
And the world appears neither shaken nor stirred.

  1. Biff Says:

The world is always shaken, and the world is always stirred. The leaves on the tree will fall, the wind will howl, the rain will pour, and you might forget your coat. But the leaves on the tree grow back and sun eventually shines. Leaving the world shaken stirred and befuddled in its own genius.
